Already tipped to be a future Protea, the youngster will form part of a young but exciting attack put together by the new head coach, Allan Donald.

Coetzee did not play a lot of first-class cricket for the Knights during the past season due to his U19 Cricket World Cup commitments and injury, but when he played he impressed and was among the leading wicket-takers during the CSA Four-Day Domestic Series.

Coetzee worked with Donald over the past season, and the ICC Cricket Hall of Famer described the fiery fast bowler as a true student of the game.

Coetzee will spearhead the seam-attack, and he will be playing alongside the new signings such as Migael Pretorius, Duan Jansen and Alfred Mothoa.

Coetzee told OFM Sport that as a young and aspiring player he cannot wait to tap into the wisdom of one of the best bowlers the country and the world has ever seen.

“In this upcoming season, to work with a hall of famer and one of the greatest bowlers of all-time is such a big privilege.

“I think everyone has abused the word excited, but that is what we are. We are all so keen and excited to be able to start learning from him, to try and gain every bit of knowledge he has, and to implement it in our game.

“With the likes of Duan and Migael, I think that we have a really talented bowling squad.

“We already have guys in the squad like Mbulelo Budaza and they are really good, and now we’ve got Duan, Mig and Alfred.

“I’m really excited about the upcoming season. We have an extremely strong bowling attack and we will be working with one of the best bowlers the world has seen. It is a really good combination and we are just really excited.”

Last seen, Coetzee caught the eye of cricket fans in South Africa when he was named as a member of the then defending Mzansi Super League champions, the Jozi Stars.
