Van Biljon self-isolates after surgery─── MORGAN PIEK 09:28 Fri, 08 May 2020
The VKB Knights captain and Proteas batsman, Pite van Biljon, has gone into self-isolation following surgery to his right shoulder.
Van Biljon damaged the rotator cuff in his shoulder while fielding in the rained-out Momentum One-Day Cup game against the Lions.
Van Biljon’s surgery was postponed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, however, he went under the knife on Wednesday.
Van Biljon told OFM Sport that the procedure was successful and he will be isolated for the next two weeks as a precaution.
“It was a good operation and I have checked myself into a flat here to isolate for two weeks as a precaution.
“It is quite sore at the moment but I have some painkillers just to get me through. I am still and trying not to move too much, so hopefully in two days or so the pain will start getting a bit better.
“Otherwise I am in good spirits and looking forward to the recovery.”
Earlier in the year, Van Biljon made his long-awaited Proteas debut during the T20 International series against Australia.
He was set for his international debut a couple of weeks earlier against England in the T20 series, however, during training, he tore the webbing between his index and middle finger.
