The Knights experienced an indifferent campaign over the past season, and it was towards the backend of the Momentum One-Day Cup that they were able to find their rhythm.

The new campaign will see a new-look squad being field after several new signings.

Gous told OFM Sport that the coach, Allan Donald, has managed to put together a well-balanced squad.

“We have quite a news faces and I am excited about this. I’m sure that everyone else is as well.

“The conditions of our home fields in Bloemfontein and Kimberley really suites the way these new guys play their game.

“I’m excited especially about the bowling department and I look forward to seeing what they will do this season.

“We have a really balanced squad this season, and hopefully we can make the step-up this season and make a name for ourselves and the Knights.”

Gous added that he is excited by the news that the Bloemfontein has been allocated one of the city-based franchises for the T20 tournament.

Gous is yet to play in the MSL T20, and said that a spot in the lucrative tournament will be the end goal for now.

“It is very exciting to hear that the Knights also got a franchise in the MSL T20.

“It is a massive goal of mine to play in the MSL, and I am sure that all the guys who have missed out in the previous seasons feel the same way.

“Hopefully most of the guys get drafted and will be able to showcase their talent in a great tournament.”

In March Gous impressed with an unbeaten 163* in a One-Day Cup game against the Titans in Kimberley.
