Shots fired by Roach─── MORGAN PIEK 15:26 Mon, 15 Jun 2020
The first shots have been fired ahead of the eagerly anticipated historic Test series between England and the West Indies.
It will be the first major cricket series since the sport was suspended due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The Windies seamer, Kemar Roach, says they have a lot of respect for their former countryman and fellow Barbadian, Jofra Archer, but there will be not friendships on the field of play.
“Jofra made his decision and he’s done a fantastic job for England so far but there will be no friendships during this series.
“It’s all about winning and playing hard cricket. We will devise a plan for our batsmen to counter him and I’m looking forward to that battle.
“I saw him as a youngster in domestic cricket back home in Barbados and always thought he was talented.
“He has come over here and shown what he can do and I want to wish him all the best in his career.
“But you will definitely see if we have any words for him on the field when that comes around
“There is no friendships with this series.”
The first of three Tests will start on 8 July at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
