Razor upbeat about the Knights balance─── MORGAN PIEK 14:59 Wed, 24 Jun 2020
The hard-hitting former South Africa U19 captain, Raynard van Tonder, expects that VKB Knights to be very competitive next season.
Van Tonder is one of four Knights players called up to the national training squad and is currently training with the seamer, Gerald Coetzee, in Bloemfontein.
Coach Allan Donald has named a number of new signings during the off-season, and Van Tonder told OFM Sport that they are a very well-balanced squad.
“We’ve got an unbelievable balance to our squad, with some really good spin options from our own ‘Shane Warne’ in the form of Shaun von Berg.
“Then we have some really good seam bowlers who are still young, who are talented and have a bright future ahead of them.
On the bowling side, I wouldn’t want to be in the other batting teams as we have some really destructive batters who can score some big runs and win games for the team.
“All-in-all, I am really excited about the upcoming season and the squad. Hopefully, we can lift a couple of trophies.”
With 843 runs at an average of 70.25 the 21-year-old Van Tonder was the leading run-scorer during the 2019/20 Domestic Four-Day Series.
