It is still a bit confusing - Ngidi─── MORGAN PIEK 09:40 Tue, 14 Jul 2020
Cricket is set to continue in South Africa this weekend with the inaugural Solidarity Cup takes place in Centurion.
The event will be the first of its kind in the world as the new format will see three teams playing against each other in one match.
The tournament was recently postponed to this weekend as the necessary permission had not been obtained for it to go ahead.
Despite Gauteng being the new Covid-19 epicentre in South Africa, the tournament is set to go ahead.
Proteas fast bowler, Lungi Ngidi, says that even now he is not too sure about the rules.
“With having only a maximum of about six overs in the game, I think by knowing already how much I need to bowl I can plan and strategise accordingly.
“We don’t know who is going to bat first and who is going to be in the dugout first, and the game plans change there.
“It is still a bit confusing, but with everything that they have told us and explained, I am actually forward to seeing how it is going to play out once we are on the field.”
Meanwhile, the young VKB Knights seamer, Gerald Coetzee, will fly to Pretoria on Tuesday morning in order to link up with Kagiso Rabada’s Kingfishers. He replaces the Proteas all-rounder, Chris Morris, who has withdrawn from the tournament.
Saturday’s match at SuperSport Park is scheduled to get underway at 11:00.
