Coetzee super excited to play in Solidarity Cup─── MORGAN PIEK 09:03 Wed, 15 Jul 2020
The 19-year-old VKB Knights seamer, Gerald Coetzee, is delighted to make a return to the cricket field on Saturday when he plays in the inaugural Solidarity Cup.
Coetzee was called up to the Kingfishers for this week’s first-ever 3TC game which will see three teams go head-to-head in a single match.
The former South Africa U19 player joins the Kingfishers in Pretoria following the withdrawal of the Proteas all-rounder, Chris Morris.
Coetzee told OFM Sport that at this stage he doesn’t really know what to expect.
“No-one really planned to be playing now until they announced this match.
“It is a great opportunity to be playing with and against some of South Africa’s greats. I’m really privileged and excited to see what is going to happen with this new format.
“I think that it is going to be very entertaining for the people to watch, but I don’t really know what to expect.
“I'm sure that it's going to be a lot of fun for both the players and the people watching from home.
“I am super excited to be a part of it.”
Saturday’s 3TC game at SuperSport Park in Centurion is scheduled to get underway at 11:00.
