English weather the only winner on Monday─── MORGAN PIEK 09:16 Tue, 28 Jul 2020
The English weather was the only winner on Monday during day four of the third and final Test between England and the West Indies at Old Trafford in Manchester.
The Windies are under the pump in the Test and of the two teams would have probably welcomed the rained out day as they are staring down the barrel of a series defeat.
The Windies still need 389 runs with eight-second innings wickets in hand for a now almost impossible victory to win the series.
The tourists will have to bat for the entire day, while for the English seamer, Stuart Broad, one wicket stands between him and becoming the seventh player in history to take 500 or more Test wickets.
Only Muttiah Muralitharan (800), Shane Warne (708), Anil Kumble (619), James Anderson (589), Glenn McGrath (563) and Courtney Walsh (519) had taken more wickets than Broad.
The bad news for the English is that more rain is predicted for Tuesday and should no play be possible, the series for the last ever Wisdom Trophy will be shared.
