The crises at Cricket South Africa has deepened with the acting CEO of the governing body, Jacques Faul, stepping down with immediate effect.

This comes after it was confirmed on Monday that the president, Chris Nenzani, tendered his resignation on Friday.

Faul was appointed in the position when the embattled Thabang Moroe was suspended in December 2019.

The reason for Faul’s resignation is unclear at this point in time.

Faul was set to be in the role until 15 September, before returning to the Titans. He will be returning to the franchise to continue as the CEO.

In 2012 Faul was appointed as the acting CEO as well after Gerald Majola was axed for the bonus scandal.

Nenzani was set to step down as president of CSA on 5 September with the annual general meeting set to be held, at which a new president would be elected.

Nenzani had been in the post since February 2013 and served two full three-year terms. His second term was extended by 12 months in order to ease the crises within the governing body.

Beresford Williams will serve as the interim president of CSA until the elections are held next month.
