Knights itching to get started on Monday─── MORGAN PIEK 15:42 Thu, 01 Oct 2020
The VKB Knights will fancy their chances in the domestic T20 competition which will be played later in the season.
Cricket South Africa announced that a single round tournament between the six franchises will be taking place at the expense of the postponed MSL T20.
Towards the end of last season, the Knights became a force to be reckoned with in white-ball cricket, and during the off-season, Allan Donald, has brought in a lot of limited-overs specialists.
The destructive Knights opening batsman, Jacques Snyman, told OFM Sport that they will be fielding a strong squad in the limited-overs format, while they will also be competitive in the four-day campaign.
“There were really tough times during this Covid-19 pandemic, but then having said that, it did afford the time to work on our fitness and skills.
“We can’t wait for the season to start. We are really positive about it and we’ve got a good side out.
“We have a really good squad that can compete in white-ball and red-ball cricket and all of the guys are looking good.
“It wasn’t great for the Mzansi Super League to be cancelled, but there is still an opportunity in the CSA T20 competition.
“Hopefully we will be able to have a good season for the Knights and some of our guys can get picked for the T20 World Cup in India next year.”
The Knights will take to the park on Monday in a four-day game at the Mangaung Oval. The team’s first official game of the season will be during the first week of November when they host the Warriors at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
