The Knights youngsters excite Triegaardt─── MORGAN PIEK 13:24 Thu, 29 Oct 2020
The VKB Knights assistant coach, JP Triegaardt, looks forward to see how the youngsters will fare during the 2020/21 domestic cricket season.
The season officially gets underway on Monday, and with the CSA 4-Day Series being only a single round tournament, a strong start will be imperative.
The Knights do have a lot of younger players in their squad, but they all already have franchise level experience.
The former Knights wicketkeeper, Triegaardt, told OFM Sport that he is excited to see how the juniors will perform.
“The cherry on the top for me will be to see how the youngsters will do at this level.
“Names like Jacques Snyman, Gerald Coetzee and Wandile Makwetu, who is in his second season.
“Your first season is always easy, your second season is coming into a competition where the opponents are aware of you and what you do.
“The challenge is to be consistent in your next season as well.
Triegaardt further added that he feels that the upcoming season will most certainly be one of the toughest to date.
“This season is one of the toughest seasons we can find ourselves in.
“Everyone is going to mentally strong and physically prepared fit, so it is going to be a tough one, but an exciting one at that.”
The Knights open their campaign on Monday against the Warriors at the Mangaung Oval.
