Knights declare early on day two─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Tue, 03 Nov 2020
The VKB Knights declared their first innings of the CSA 4-Day game against the Warriors at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on 430/6 early on Tuesday morning.
The Knights added just 25 runs to their overnight score before sending the visitors from the Eastern Cape into bat.
Jacques Snyman top-scored for the Knights with 109, while Raynard van Tonder added 85 and Farhaan Behardien contributed with a knock off 75.
Day one hero, Snyman, told OFM Sport that there is definitely something in the pitch for the batsman.
“It means a lot to me and I never knew that those records were the ones. I never thought about it but I'm just happy to have started the season on such a high and being able to put the team in such a good position.
“Yes, the wicket is wild but there is always a ball with your name on it. You have to be confident in every single shot you play, commit to it, and then take it from there.”
The tall left-arm seamer, Marco Jansen, who played at the Knights up until last season was the pick of the Warriors bowlers with figures of 86/3 in 22 ov.
The Warriors first innings got off to a slow start with the former Knights opening batman, Gihahn Cloete, losing his wicket early.
Cloete, who is captaining the Warriors in the absence of Yaseen Vallie was caught behind by Wandile Makwetu for just five runs off the bowling of the debutant, Migael Pretorius.
