Van Tonder extended his overnight tally of 119 before being trapped lbw by Ruan de Swardt for 166 with the Knights score on 413.

Last season, Van Tonder scored 165 against the Dolphins in the City of Roses.

On Tuesday, Van Tonder, was well supported by the seamer, Migael Pretorius, who contributed with a fine knock of 62, which was also the second-highest score of the innings.

Before the days play, Van Tonder, told OFM Sport that a good performance is important in each game.

“I’m really happy that I could get past the 85-run mark this time.

“It seems like I’ve had a good streak against the Dolphin and hopefully I can keep it going.

“There are not a lot of games in this competition this season and it is really important for us to play well.

“Hopefully we can also put in about good bowling performance and get another win under the belt.”

After lunch, the Knights were bowled out for 424. De Swardt was the pick of the bowlers for the Dolphins with 2/39 in 18 overs.

The former Knight, Ottniel Baartman, as well as, Lifa Ntanzi and Keshav Maharaj, each bagged two scalps as well.

At tea, the visitors were in deep trouble on 73/4, with Pretorius and Alfred Mothoa each having claimed two wickets.
