The seamer, Gerald Coetzee, has once again been side-lined, just two games after making his return from a hamstring injury he sustained during the final week of the preseason.

The team welcomed the return of the captain, Pite van Biljon, from international duty, while the seamer, Alfred Mothoa, recovered from his hamstring strain.

Knights coach, Allan Donald, confirmed Coetzee’s injury to OFM Sport.

“Unfortunately Gerald is out until the January one-day matches. He has a grade two tear, which is worse than the one before. We are currently seeking some proper specialist advice for him because he has got a neural problem.

“We hope he will be joining us again in the one-dayers and that he will be healthy again to play for us. We are not going to risk him at all and Duan Jansen will slot into that role.”

Earlier in the year, Coetzee missed out on most of the Junior Proteas ICC U19 Cricket World Cup campaign in South Africa after sustaining an injury to his toe during the tournament.

The Knights host the Lions as of Sunday at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein in their next match.
