Lions advance after washout in Potchefstroom─── 14:50 Tue, 02 Feb 2021
The Lions have qualified for the Momentum One-Day Cup final after their semi-final showdown against the VKB Knights was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Tuesday.
Wandile Gwavu’s team topped Pool B during the group phase of action and therefore earned their ticket by virtue of ending higher than Allan Donald’s charges on the table.
They will now meet the Dolphins in Thursday’s final after the KwaZulu-Natal side overcame the Cape Cobras in the other semi-final on Monday. No reserve day was in place for the two last-four encounters, but there is one set aside should weather intervene during the deciding game.
All the matches in 2020/21 are being hosted in a bio-secure environment (BSE) hosted by the North West town.
