The Proteas T20 captain, Heinrich Klaasen, backs the VKB Knights opening batsman, Jacques Snyman, ahead of the three-match T20 International series against Pakistan which starts on Thursday.

The 26-year-old Snyman earned his maiden call-up to the national side for the series which will be played in Lahore.

While Snyman is not guaranteed of any game time, but with his destructive batting he could be a valuable asset to the team who want to play an aggressive brand of cricket.

Klaasen told OFM Sport that he believes that Snyman could be an assent.

“He is one of those new guys coming into the squad and he has unbelievable potential and I will defiantly back him as a player.

“I grew up with him, we attended the same school and we played a lot of cricket together.

“He has done exceptionally well over the last four years in amateur and domestic cricket.

“Hopefully, for his sake, he gets an opportunity to represent his country and showcase his skills.

“He is an extremely talented cricketer, so looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the table if he gets an opportunity.”

The first T20 International between Pakistan and South Africa gets underway at 13:00 on Thursday afternoon.
