Recently the women claimed a first-ever series win over India on the subcontinent, and this has inspired the men ahead of their three One-Day Internationals and four T20 Internationals against India.

The newly appointed Proteas limited-overs captain, Temba Bavuma, says that they have to match the efforts of the ladies.

“We've been very much inspired by the efforts of the women in India.

“We have the experience of playing in India and we know how tough it is there. The fact that they've been able to come up trumps there, is something we celebrate as the men's team.

“It is important for us to take that in our stride and be able to match the efforts of the women.

“We have had informal conversations within the team and from our side. We will be trying to ride that wave and put in good performances for the country.”

The Proteas and Pakistan go head-to-head on Friday at SuperSport Park in the 1st ODI.
