The VKB Knights captain, Pite van Biljon, emphasized the importance of a positive result for the Proteas in the four-match T20 International series against Pakistan.

The Proteas received more bad news this morning with the captain, Temba Bavuma, being ruled out due to a grade one hamstring strain.

Van Biljon, who is one of the seniors in the team told OFM Sport that they have to win the upcoming series.

“We lost a couple of guys to the IPL, but as we’ve shown in Pakistan, that without a full Test squad unavailable we can compete against these guys and in their conditions.

“Hopefully we can turn the tables on them in this series. Obviously, after the ODI series, we would like to record a series win and get some payback.

“There are a couple of new guys in the squad and it's a good opportunity to see what they can do.

“Hopefully we can put Pakistan under pressure and get a win. It's much needed heading into a big year of cricket.”

The first match of the series starts on Saturday afternoon at 14:30 at the Wanderers.
