The Proteas captain, Temba Bavuma, is expected to be fit for the five-match T20 International series against the West Indies in Grenada.
Bavuma, who is South Africa’s white-ball captain missed out of both Test matches in Saint Lucia.
He was ruled out of the 1st Test with a hip injury, while the day before the 2nd Test he dislocated his middle finger during a fielding session.
“Captain, Temba Bavuma, is responding well to his middle finger dislocation rehabilitation and is expected to lead the team in the upcoming T20 series,” CSA confirmed.
Meanwhile, the all-rounder, Wiaan Mulder, has stayed on with the squad. He is retained as cover for Dwaine Pretorius. Pretorius tested positive for Covid-19 ahead the teams departure.
“Wiaan Mulder has been retained for the T20 team as replacement for Dwaine Pretorius, who unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 in the team’s pre-departure testing in South Africa.
“He is not symptomatic and is doing well and following the stipulated COVID-19 protocols. The CSA medical team is keeping in close communication with him to ensure his overall wellbeing.”
The 1st T20 International in St George’s will be played on Saturday.
