Knights to face Namibia in warm-up games─── MORGAN PIEK 09:07 Wed, 04 Aug 2021
The Itec Knights will be wrapping up their preseason in a series of matches against the Namibian national team in Bloemfontein next month.
The Knights are currently in the middle of their preseason albeit it that some of their cricketers are currently playing overseas. Currently, the captain Pite van Biljon and the destructive batter, Jacques Snyman, are both playing in the UK, while the seamer, Migael Pretorius, is set to play in the Caribbean Premier League for the Jamaica Tallawahs.
The Knights are focusing heavily on playing spin in their preseason, and they will also make use of the former Proteas batsman, Jacques Rudolph, in a two-day spin kamp. Rudolph previously represented the Knights when they were still known as the Eagles.
In addition, the Knights conclude their preseason against Namibia in four T20 matches and a single One-Day game.
The Knights coach, Allan Donald, told OFM Sport that they look forward to the season which will be mutually beneficial to both teams.
“It’s going to be great preparation against a very good Namibian team. They are well-coached by Pierre de Bruyn and Albie Morkel.
“I spent six days in Namibia and I can tell you that they are going to be more than a handful when they come here.
“We are really looking forward to hosting them here in Bloemfontein. It will be great preparation for them as we will be heading into the T20 World Cup but also for our campaign as well.”
The 1st T20 game will be played on 4 September at the Mangaung Oval.
