Cricket South Africa has confirmed that the assistant coach, Enoch Nkwe, has signaled his intention to resign.
This comes as the national men's cricket team jet off to Sri Lanka for a One-Day International and T20 International series in Colombo.
The Chairperson, Lawson Naidoo, and Acting CEO, Pholetsi Moseki, are reviewing the matter and are in discussions with Nkwe.
The governing body of the sport in South Africa confirmed that news via a short statement.
"CSA has noted media reports about the resignation of Proteas Assistant Coach, Enoch Nkwe. Nkwe has indeed signalled an intention to resign, and this matter is being considered by the Board.
"The Chairperson and the Acting CEO are currently engaging with Nkwe about his future.
"A further statement will be made when these consultations have been concluded."
Meanwhile, the Proteas bowling coach, Charl Langeveldt, has not gone with to the subcontinent due to Covid-19 protocol related reason.
The former Eagles (now Itec Knights) seamer, Mandla Mashimbyi, will serve in the role.
The Proteas face Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI on 2 September.
