The toss will be key in Bloemfontein─── MORGAN PIEK 08:54 Fri, 29 Oct 2021
The CSA Division 1 4-Day series gets underway on Friday across South Africa but the forecast for Bloemfontein doesn’t spell good news for today, at least.
The Itec Knights are set to open their campaign against the Paarl Rocks this morning and with all the rain about it could make for an interesting game.
The weather should also have a lot on offer for the bowlers, and the Knights coach, Allan Donald, who became a grandfather earlier in the week, told OFM Sport that bowling first is the way to go.
“I won't say that it's live grass. With the pitch, there is no doubt that we would like it rock-hard and ready to go.
“But there is no question that there is going to be a bit of movement.
“It's going to be quite slow on day one and the forecast doesn't look great at all.
“But we'll see. Forecasts have changed before.”
The Knights captain, Pite van Biljon, in his turn said they feel well prepared that they will take it one session at a time.
“Our preparation has been pretty good, we come from a T20 competition and the guys can handle the state of play.
“We don’t set specific goals for any competition, we just take it one game at a time and in the game against the Rocks, we will see what happens with the toss and take it one session at a time.”
Play is scheduled to get underway at 10:00. Over in Johannesburg, the Lions are set to face the North West Dragons at the Wanderers.
