The North West Dragons have received a major boost ahead of their CSA Division 1 4-Day game against the Itec Knights in Potchefstroom this week.

The all-rounder, Delano Potgieter, has received a clean bill of health and will be considered for the game according to their coach, Monty Jacobs.

Jacobs, who was out of commission with Covid-19, confirmed to OFM Sport that he will be back with the team from Friday and he is happy to have his star player, Potgieter, back in action and ready for his long-awaited Dragons debut.

“It was a bad start last week at the Wanderers. I have not been with the team since last week Tuesday. I tested positive and had to isolate and I'm joining them again on Friday.

“We're looking forward to play at home and improve from last week. There is quite a bit of inexperience in the team but so far, they have been learning fast.

“We're not thinking about the T20 against the Knights. They have a good team and it is a totally different game.

“Delano Potgieter has recovered from his injury and will most likely play. We're slowly getting back to a full squad.

“We are looking forward to the match and want to improve on the areas we lacked in the previous game.”

Potgieter missed the Dragons T20 knockout campaign after fracturing his thumb in the bio-bubble in Bloemfontein.

After missing last week’s campaign opener against the Lions at the Wanderers, Potgieter told OFM Sport that he is keen to play.

“Unfortunately, I missed the T20 Knockout due to a thumb injury, but I am happy to say that I'll be representing the Dragons for the first time when we take on the Knights in the four-day series.

“I'm looking forward to what lies ahead for not only the weekend, but also for the season to come.”

Play at Senwes Park is set to start at 10:00 on Friday morning.
