The Dolphins had the bat first and when play was called the hosts were on 197/6 after 72 overs.

The former Knight, Keegan Petersen, was scored 57, while Khaya Zondo scored 48.

Alfie Mothoa was the pick of the Knights bowlers with 3/31 in 17 overs.

Knights coach, Allan Donald, told OFM Sport that he was happy with the first day.

“It will be a very important session on Friday morning starting at nine o'clock, but first let's look at how the weather turns out.

“I'm extremely proud of how everyone fought on day one.

“It was a proper team effort and some great catching behind the stumps, Mangaliso Mosehle took two fantastic catches off of Alfred Mothoa's bowling.”

Meanwhile, over in Potchefstroom the Warriors were on 313/6 at stumps in their game against the North West Dragons.
