The South Western Districts left-arm spinner, Sean Whitehead, was the talk of the town following the past weeks domestic 4-day series action across the country after achieving the best bowling figures in South Africa in 115 years.

The 24-year-old Bloemfonteiner achieved the rare feat of taking all ten wickets in an innings during their 4-day match against the Eastern Storm in Oudtshoorn.

During the first innings, Whitehead took 5/64 and then 10/36 in the second to returns figures of 15/100 in the match.

Whitehead's figures are the second-best in the history of South African domestic cricket, behind the leg-spinner Bert Vogler's 10/26 for Eastern Province against Griqualand West in Johannesburg back in December 1906.

With the bat, Whitehead scored 66 and 45 to single-handedly lead SWD to an outstanding 120 run win.

Whitehead told OFM Sport that he is still in shock and he hopes he can help lead his team to silverware this season.

Whitehead now has 39 wickets in 13 first-class games at an average of 25.64, to go with 481 runs at 37.00.

Before joining SWD, Whitehead played from the Free State from U15 to senior level, and he also represented South Africa U19.

He was also a key member of the University of the Free State Shimlas, while he played 1st XI cricket at Saint Andrews’ School in Bloemfontein.
