The Proteas will target a series win on Friday when they host India in the second One-Day International to be played in Paarl.

South Africa’s leads the series 1-0 following a 31-run win on Wednesday.

Cricket South Africa has confirmed that Mark Boucher will still be in charge as the coach for this game and the next before his disciplinary hearing.

The Proteas spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi, says they take confidence out of Wednesday’s win without looking too far ahead.

“What is important in a series like this is that if you get off to a great start - just to forget about the previous game.

“Basically, just play the second game as if it's the first game of the series and try and win that match.

“You don't want to look too far ahead. You just want to focus on the next game and hopefully go 2-0 up.”

The strike bowler went on to laud the tenacity of the captain Temba Bavuma and batter Rassie van der Dussen, for their contribution with the bat.

“The way Temba and Rassie batted was a massive statement. It was a tough situation that they went in and the way they counter-punched took the initiative away from India.

“Especially the way we played against the spinners in spin-conducive conditions. That shows a lot of growth in the team.

“Also, the way we bowled - to restrict their batting line-up - was beautiful overall.”

The 2nd ODI at Boland Park gets underway at 10:30 on Friday morning.
