The Proteas have been drawn in Pool B for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

South Africa will have to contend with India, Pakistan and Bangladesh in the Pool.

The Proteas will open their campaign in Hobart, but they will have to wait and see who their opponent will be.

The Proteas opener will be against the team that has to qualify from the first round.

The defending champions and hosts, Australia, will face neighbours, New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 22 October, in what is a repeat of last year’s final.

Last year the Proteas narrowly missed out on the semi-finals after they lost to the eventual winners, Australia, in the opening match of the tournament that was staged in the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

Round 1 of the T20 World Cup down-under will get underway on 16 October.
