The Springboks Sevens stretch their winnings streak on the HSBC Sevens World Series to 25 consecutive wins following a 27-7 win over Scotland on day one of the Malaga Sevens in Spain.

The Blitzboks received their first yellow card of the current World Series when JC Pretorius was sin-binned during the first half.

The former Griffons scrumhalf, Selvyn Davids, scored a brace of tries for the Blitzboks while Zain Davids, the captain Siviwe Soyizwapi and Christie Grobbelaar also dotted down.

Branco du Preez slotted one conversion.

Paddy Kelly scored a try for the Scots which was converted by Gavin Lowe.

South Africa, Scotland and England have all already received 3 points each before the tournament kicked off as Fiji were withdrawn from the tournament as they weren't able to travel due to Covid-19 restrictions.

On Saturday afternoon the Blitzboks will tackle England at 14:14 in their second Pool A fixture.
