Donald impressed by young Klijnhans─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Tue, 15 Feb 2022
The new Itec Knights opening batter, CP Klijnhans, is the talk of the town following his performance during Monday's 9 wicket win over the Warriors in the CSA T20 Challenge.
The 22-year-old made his debut at St George’s Park and impressed with an unbeaten 67 to help guide the Knights to their first win of the competition.
The solid work with the willow by Klijnhans allowed the explosive Jacques Snyman to play his natural game and led the charge with a blistering quick 90 runs.
Snyman also played his part in using his experience to help guide the youngster in the run chase.
Knights coach, Allan Donald, told OFM Sport that he is delighted to see young talent coming through.
“He really impressed me with the way he just takes the game on. I'm super stoked for CP.
“Everyone in the hotel is now asking about who this kid is and where he comes from.
“This kid from Kathu has come and announced himself in a big way.
“It's great to see some young talent like Tristan Stubbs and CP Klijnhans, all of a sudden there are some guys stepping up and finishing games.
“It was just awesome.”
The Knights' next game in the tournament is on Friday against the Western Province Blitz.
