The Proteas were woeful in their batting, bowling and fielding during their innings and 276 run defeat in last week’s 1st Test.

With team totals of 95 and 111 in their respective innings, the Proteas batting will be their biggest focus area.

Proteas batting consultant, Justin Sammons, feels they can learn from the Black Caps batters.

“We need to be decisive in our decision making", said the batting guru.

“We need to leave well and like I said they were strong in the defensive positions, so we need to be as strong as we can defensively.

“That comes from also having a strong mindset and I think that is something that we need to really drive home going forward into this next Test.

“If you come out with a positive mindset you land up being in stronger positions defensively.”

The 2nd Test at the Hagley Oval gets underway on Thursday morning.
