Verreynne expects spin on final day─── MORGAN PIEK 14:58 Mon, 28 Feb 2022
The Proteas have a win in their sights on day five of the second and final Test against New Zealand in Christchurch.
The Proteas need six wickets to claim the win while the Black Caps will have to survive the entire day to ensure that they win or draw the Test.
In addition, 332 runs stand between the Black Caps and a first ever Test whitewash over South Africa.
The Proteas wicketkeeper, Kyle Verreynne, who scored a maiden Test century this morning, feels that spin will come into play tomorrow and Keshav Maharaj will have a role to play.
“We all know that the stats are heavily in favour of the seamers, but I think that this wicket is a bit different to what we usually see here.
“It does look like it could start turning tomorrow. It is looking a little dry so I think that Kesh will definitely play a big role.
“Kesh has always been someone that's always involved in the game and make an impact.
“He did that today and I think that tomorrow he is probably going to bowl the whole day.”
Play at the Hagley Oval will resume at midnight.
