Proteas move to 4th in World Test Championship standings─── MORGAN PIEK 14:48 Tue, 01 Mar 2022
The Proteas have climbed up to fourth place in the ICC World Test Championship standings after beating New Zealand by 198 runs in the 2nd Test in Christchurch.
This morning the Proteas levelled the series against the reigning world Test champions.
Despite their innings and 276-run win over South Africa last week, the Black Caps dropped down to sixth in the standings.
The Proteas captain, Dean Elgar, expressed his delight at the series result.
“One-all coming to New Zealand, at the start of the series I would have taken that result.
“Be it as it may, we didn't start very well, so it's a little difficult for us to take things after that first Test, because there were so many learnings and we didn't really pitch up.
“To see the guys bounce back showed a lot of character and a lot of maturity, and obviously to get the win the way we did in the last Test is brilliant for us.”
The Proteas' next game is on 18 March when they host Bangladesh at SuperSport Park in the 1st ODI.
