Klaas backs the seamer bowlers─── MORGAN PIEK 09:40 Wed, 09 Mar 2022
The Proteas Women's seamer, Masabata Klaas, has backed the bowling attack ahead of their upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup game against Pakistan.
Botshabelo-born Klaas took two wickets and was credited for a run-out during South Africa's 32-run win over Bangladesh in Dunedin on Sunday.
While Ayabonga Khaka was the pick of the bowlers with 4/32 the united earned the win for the Proteas.
Klaas said her job it to build the pressure upfront in order to take wickets.
“As a pace bowler, I just want to improve in every game. You need to make sure you're there for the team.
“I'm a bowler that likes to put pressure on batters. We have good opening bowlers in Shabnim Ismail, Marizanne Kapp, and Ayabonya Khaka.
“I always tell myself that during the first spell after the opening bowlers, I have to bowl and maintain and keep that pressure and the wickets will come.”
The Proteas face Pakistan in Mount Maunganui on Friday morning from 03:00.
