In recent time, the Proteas beat West Indies in the Caribbean, beat India at home, while they shared the series with the World Test Champions, the Black Caps in New Zealand.

The Tigers will enter the Test series with confidence after beating the Proteas in the three-match One-Day International series.

The Proteas spinner, Keshav Maharaj, said they must look past the ODI series defeat.

“We've had a phenomenal year, said the spin bowler.

“Yes, there's been some highs and some lows. The loss in the one-day series has hurt a lot of the guys.

“The Test unit is a different unit and hopefully we can carry the confidence from the Test series against India into this game.

“Having said that, Bangladesh, have done extremely well themselves this summer, so they are not a team to be taken lightly.”

Play at Kingsmead is scheduled to get underway at 10:00.
