The Warriors have signed the Northern Cape Heat seamer, Beyers Swanepoel, for the upcoming domestic season.

The 23-year-old Swanepoel has played the most of his first-class cricket for the Free State and Northern Cape and has also proven to be more than handy with the bat.

Swanepoel boasts a top-score 188* in first-class cricket, while with the ball he has a career-best of 7/50 in an innings.

With his ability with the bat Swanepoel can be considered as an all-rounder.

Following a successful campaign with the Heat, Swanepoel left to play some cricket in England before reporting for duty at St George’s Park in September.

The Warriors coach and former Proteas spin bowler, Robin Peterson, told OFM Sport that Swanepoel is an ideal team man and a player they need in the squad.

“He is a pleasant guy and will be good for the changeroom. I want guys with a good attitude in the changeroom.

“He is an aggressive lefthander with the bat in hand, and really my kind of player who can come in at 7 or 8 and score runs.”

“We need more all-rounders in all South African cricket.”

Meanwhile, the Heat all-rounder, Evan Jones, will join the Lions, while Aubrey Swanepoel and Isaac Dikwale will be going to the Itec Knights. The batter, Jonathan Vandiar, will join the Tuskers in Division 2.
