The Proteas coach, Mark Boucher, and his former assistant, Enoch Nkwe, could working together again sooner, rather than later.
The rift between the two was well documented over the last year or so after Nkwe unexpectedly stepped down as the Proteas assistant coach.
Now Nkwe appears to be on the shortlist for the vacant Director of Cricket role at Cricket South Africa.
Graeme Smith's contract with CSA was not renewed recently.
Nkwe is one of three people on the shortlist with the other's being the former Proteas and Knights spinner, Robin Peterson, and Linda Zondi, who is the former convener of selectors.
It is unclear when the appointment will be made for the vacant role.
