The Proteas Women will look to level the series on Monday when they come up against the Ireland in the second T20 International in Dublin.
On Friday the Irish took a 1-0 lead in the series of three T20I’s by beating the Proteas by 10 runs.
Ireland scored 143/7 in their allotted 20 overs with the Gaby Lewis playing a captain’s innings of 52.
Tumi Sekhukhune to 3/32 in her four-over spell.
South Africa were restricted to 133/7 with the North West batter, Anneke Bosch, top-scoring with 26.
The vice-captain, Chloe Tryon, who scored 26 runs said they have to rock up for the game.
“We are obviously very disappointed at the way we played. I felt like we kind of went through the motions,
“When we were bowling, we didn’t really have plans.
“I was happy with the way we came back in the last seven overs in the game. We kind of let it drag a bit too much. We didn't adapt to the conditions as quick as possible. They played really well and rocked up to the game.
“For us, it's about pitching up and just making sure we play our best cricket as we were definitely under par.
“We need to make sure when we going out to bowl, we go out with intent and bowl to our field settings. When we are batting, we must have really good intent, look to rotate the strike, look for boundary options and get those partnerships in the middle.
“That's definitely something we would like to work on going into the next game.”
Play is Pembroke is scheduled to get underway at 17:30 on Monday.
