It's definitely a dream come true - Coetzee─── MORGAN PIEK 08:02 Fri, 01 Jul 2022
The Itec Knights fast bowler, Gerald Coetzee, is over the moon after being selected for the Proteas T20 International squad to tour England next month.
The 21-year-old seamer has been picked for the senior men’s team for the first time in his fledgling career.
Coetzee has previously represented South Africa at two ICC U19 Cricket World Cups. In 2018, he was named in the team of the tournament in New Zealand, while he also played in the tournament in South Africa.
Recently he was selected for the SA A tour to Zimbabwe where he impressed with the ball.
Coetzee told OFM Sport that this is the dream.
“I am very excited - it's definitely a dream come true," said the seamer who is also no slouch with the bat.
“All the people behind the scenes who have helped met to get here, it's just as big a celebration for them as for me.
“The sacrifice of parents and family, all the coaches and physios.
“I'm really just blessed to be able to go and live out my dream.”
Coetzee’s Knights teammate, Rilee Rossouw, has also been called up for the first time in six-years.
The first T20 International between England and South Africa will be played on 27 July in Bristol.
