Proteas are raring to go against England─── MORGAN PIEK 08:14 Mon, 18 Jul 2022
The Proteas men are feeling quietly confident ahead of their One-Day International series against England which begins in Chester-Le-Street on Tuesday.
The Proteas wrapped up their preparation last week with two 50-over warm-up games against the England Lions in Taunton and Worcester.
The Proteas lost the first game, but bounced in fine-style with a resounding win in the second match.
The Proteas enter the series in good form cross all three formats, however they have played limited ODI’s of late.
The Proteas seamer Lungi Ngidi believes that the series will provide for some thrilling cricket.
“Being out on the park, you could see from the performances that we put it, that we were playing towards a tempo that we know we are going to play against these guys.
“They do put tend to put bowling line-ups under pressure - that is there go-to plan.
“Our batsmen have shifted their mindsets and are intending to do the same.
“I reckon it's going to be some good cricket and these wickets tend to be good batting wickets.”
The seamer added that due to previous experience they have enough knowledge of the conditions to adapt.
“Any information that we can get about these conditions will be useful. We played here in the World Cup, so I think a few of those that were here are familiar with how is plays.
“I've got some friends that play at Durham as well, so that should help a lot.
“We definitely are going to tap into that information and made sure that we are as well prepared as we can be.”
Tuesday’s series opener at the Riverside Ground gets underway at 14:00.
