Proteas focused on winning T20I series─── MORGAN PIEK 08:11 Thu, 21 Jul 2022
The Proteas Women don’t want to think too far ahead as they get their T20 International series against England that gets underway in Chelmsford on Thursday.
The Proteas and England will both be playing in the Commonwealth Games from the end of the month where women’s cricket feature for the first time.
The tournament in Birmingham will be playing in a T20 format and the upcoming three-match series against the English will be the ideal preparation for both teams.
Proteas captain Suné Luus said for now the focus remains on England and they want to set the record straight after the One-Day International series whitewash.
“We didn’t perform to the best of our ability but we will still take a lot of lessons out of that series.
“There are a lot of young players here, and the games as we’ve had, set one up for the future. They help build experience. We are a strong group of girls, we have strong mindsets.
“We want to put those three games behind us and move forward, and take the lessons with us.
“It would be great to level the series, but we are thinking ahead to the Commonwealth Games as well, and we are going to try a few options.”
Thursday’s first T20 International gets underway at 20:00.
