Proteas to play for pride in Derby─── MORGAN PIEK 15:00 Mon, 25 Jul 2022
The Proteas Women will be playing for pride on Monday evening when they face England in Derby in the last of three T20 Internationals.
The English claimed the series on Saturday with a six-wicket win over South Africa at New Road in Worcester.
The Proteas are on a five match losing streak in England after also having lost the One-Day International series 3-0.
The Proteas batter, Lara Goodall, stressed the importance of chalking up a win tonight, especially with the Commonwealth Games starting in Birmingham on Monday.
“That is our focus and motivation for Monday. We know that we cannot save anything with regards to this series.
“We must regain some pride out on the field and play for the badge. We must just do what we do best and play the way we know that we can play.
“If we hit our straps and execute our skills, we know that we can be very hard to beat on the day.
It is T20 cricket and anything can happen.”
Tonight’s third and final T20 International starts at 19:30.
