Attitude is important - Du Preez─── MORGAN PIEK 08:35 Tue, 02 Aug 2022
The Proteas Women will want to control the controllable when they face England on Tuesday at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
South Africa has just come out of a T20 International series against the English and things certainly didn’t go their way.
The English convincingly beat South Africa 3-0 in the T20 series while in the One-Day International they also won 3-0.
Injuries and player retirements certainly haven’t helped South Africa’s cause.
The season Proteas batter, Mignon du Preez, said the right attitude is always important.
“The biggest thing for us is to control the controllable - a lot of the things that have happened have been out of our control. Whether it's on or off the field we can't change that.
“For us, it's just about our attitude. Attitude is very important, especially when it comes to our fielding.
“We've let ourselves down in the field and it comes down to the attitude and energy that we bring.”
“We’ve got the plans in place, our execution hasn’t been on point just yet so if we actually just execute our plans, we would definitely set ourselves up for a good win,” she said.
“It is small margins in T20 cricket - it is one or two overs, or one partnership that really takes the game away.
“I don’t think we were that far off - we played good cricket for the most part of the game but then one or two overs let us down.
“For us, the biggest thing would be to keep on focusing on what we can do and not spend too much energy on the opposition, and if we execute our plans, we would put ourselves in a position to win some games.”
Today’s game between England and South Africa gets underway at 12:00.
