Boucher stunned the cricketing world on Monday when he announced his resignation as the Proteas men’s head coach.

This announcement came mere hours after South Africa’s defeat to England in the 3rd and final Test at the Oval in Kensington.

Speaking about his appointed on the team’s official website Boucher said that it’s an honour to take charge of the most successful team in the IPL.

“It’s an honour and privilege to be appointed as Head Coach of the Mumbai Indians,” said Boucher.

“Their history and achievements as a franchise clearly put them up there as one of the most successful sporting franchises in all of world sport.

“I look forward to the challenge and respect the need for results.

“It’s a strong unit with great leadership and players. I look forward to adding value to this dynamic unit.”

Boucher will remain in charge of the Proteas until after the ICC T20 World Cup that will begin in Australia next month.

The Proteas will head to the subcontinent next week for three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals against India.
