Bavuma admits it had been a tough three months─── MORGAN PIEK 08:02 Fri, 23 Sep 2022
The Proteas men's cricket team will be departing for India today where they will play in three T20 Internationals as well as in three One-Day Internationals.
The Proteas, as well as India, will be using the opportunity to prepare for the ICC T20 World Cup that will get underway in Australia next month.
The regular captain, Temba Bavuma, is back to lead the team following an elbow injury.
Speaking before their departure, Bavuma, told OFM Sport that the past three months were a very trying time for the batter.
“To be honest, the past two-and-a-half to three months have been one of the toughest from an injury point of view,” said Bavuma.
“It's been definitely frustrating. It was nice to also be involved in the game from a different perspective as a commentator and an analyst. That was a nice way to keep me in the game.
“Going through that period, not really knowing when I’m going to recover, that was quite difficult mentally.
“But, look, I'm here now and my elbow feels good. I obviously opted against the surgery but it feels good.
“I feel excited and blessed to have the opportunity again to play in South African colours and running out there with the guys.”
The first T20 International between India and South Africa will be played next week Wednesday.
