The ITEC Knights batter, Rilee Rossouw, was in sublime form again with the bat on Monday as the Proteas cruised to a 9 wicket win over New Zealand in their first T20 World Cup warm-up match in Brisbane.

The Black Caps were bowled out for just 98 runs in 17.1 overs, with Keshav Maharaj taking 3/17 in three overs.

The seasoned Martin Guptill top-scored for New Zealand with 26 runs, while Glen Phillips scored 20.

Tabraiz Shamsi also proved why he is one of the best bowlers in the world in the shortest format with 2/6 in his three overs. Wayne Parnell also bagged two scalps with 2/8 in two overs, while Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada each claimed a wicket.

In reply, Rossouw smashed 54 not out off of 32 balls, as the Proteas chased down the target in 11.2 overs.

The former Knight, Reeza Hendricks, who has also been in good form with the willow contributed with 27 runs, while Markram scored 16 not out.

Maharaj, who was the captain on the day said Rossouw made the run-chase seem easy.

“Following two series loses it was important that we try and create some momentum in these warm-up games and I thought that the guys were really professional out on the field today,” said Maharaj who was standing in for Temba Bavuma.

“I wouldn't say it was about the easy of the chase, Rilee has been in spectacular form with the bat and he just makes things look a lot easier than it actually is.

“I think that the structure and the blueprint from our batting point of view came to show on a what was a really tricky and difficult wicket.”

The Proteas will face Bangladesh on Wednesday from 10am in their last warm-up game.
