The Proteas captain, Temba Bavuma, is set to be back in action on Wednesday in the ICC T20 World Cup warm-up game against Bangladesh in Brisbane.

The under-fire Bavuma missed out on selection for Monday’s nine-wicket win over the Black Caps of New Zealand in Australia.

Bavuma missed out due to a viral infection and it was decided not to risk playing him.

The captain on the day, Keshav Maharaj, confirmed that Bavuma will be ready to face the Tigers in their last warm-up match, but that call will be made by the medical staff.

“With Temba he is easing back into it. I'm sure that in the next game you will probably see him, but that is left up to the medical staff. Having said that, he is building up nicely to the World Cup.”

The match will be Bavuma’s very last chance to score some runs and find a bit of form heading into the World Cup.

While the Proteas have continued to throw their weight behind the skipper, if he is unable to play or score some runs, Mark Boucher, will have some very tough decisions to make.

The big problem facing Boucher is that Reeza Hendricks is in red-hot form and scoring plenty of runs, while Quinton de Kock is also scoring, albeit he hasn’t been as consistent as the Proteas would like.

Wednesday’s game, which is a night match, will get under way at 10:00.
