The ITEC Knights batter, Rilee Rossouw, is trying to keep things as simple as possible with the bat since he has been recalled to the Proteas.

Rossouw’s ton on Thursday was the first century at the 2022 ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia and led South Africa to a comprehensive 104 run drubbing of Bangladesh in Sydney.

He became just the 12th player in the history of the format to score two centuries at international level and just the second South African to achieve the feat. The other is his good friend and former Knights teammate, David Miller.

Speaking after his innings in the capital of New South Wales, Rossouw said playing in Bangladesh was a definite advantage.

"I think playing in the Bangladesh Premier League definitely helps when playing against their national team.

"I was there for three years, if I remember correctly, and in two of them I was the leading run scorer."

"It's somewhere where I have definitely improved because I have played a lot of cricket in the subcontinent - Pakistan, Bangladesh and even Dubai. I've improved my game a lot over the last couple of years, so I feel more comfortable now than when I was in my 20's."

The destructive left-handed batter added that the secret of his powerful hitting boils down to keeping it as simple as possible with the bat in hand.

"It doesn't matter what stage it's on, whether it's a World Cup or domestic cricket, I just try to see the little white ball and hit the little white ball.

"It doesn't matter who is running in. People have made names for themselves in T20 cricket, so you have to take that into consideration, but at the end of the day, somebody is bowling the ball to you and you've just got to hit it."

The Proteas and India will battle it out on Sunday in Perth in Group 2 of the World Cup.
