Play between the Itec Knights and the Dolphins abandoned due to rain | News Article
Jacques Snyman - Itec Knights

In a no result game, the Itec Knights were left standing on 100 runs for 9 wickets in 17.1 overs after their game against the Dolphins on Friday evening, the 28th of October, in Potchefstroom got washed out due to rain.

With the Knights being the only unbeaten team in the tournament thus far, this play abandonment sees them keeping that streak with two wins in the bag. Their main focus last night was to enjoy the game and continue with their momentum in their CSA T20 Challenge campaign.

The dolphins had won the toss and chose to bowl first but due to unfavourable weather conditions they did not see their chance to bat last night. Bowling 17.1 overs saw the Itec Knights push through to their 100/9 score.

The Knights were off to a good start with their opening batsmen, Gihahn Cloete and Jacques Snyman, scoring a total of 43 runs within the first 6 overs but due to a slow pitch which offered a lot of turn saw the Dolphins spinners, Jon-Jon Smuts and Prenelan Subrayen, taking control of the game resulting in each of them taking two wickets.

With the semi-finals in sight, this game was an important decider seeing that both teams are in need of securing their spot. Unfortunately to the Dolphins, this played less in their favour seeing that they only have one game left while the Itec Knights still have two games to play.

The Itec Knights are up against the Titans next on Monday, the 31st of October, at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.
