Miller backs 'Baby AB'─── MORGAN PIEK 13:23 Wed, 02 Nov 2022
The big-hitting Proteas batter, David Miller, has thrown his weight behind the teenage cricketing sensation from the Titans, Dewald Brevis, and feels that the exciting player will don the green-and-gold in the not too distant future.
The destructive 19-year-old batter Brevis made international headlines on Monday when he smashed 13 fours and 13 sixes in an innings of 162 runs against the ITEC Knights in the CSA T20 Challenge being played in Potchefstroom.
Miller, who is renowned for his ability to change the complexion of a match with the willow said that the teenager affectionally known as ‘Baby AB’ will play at a higher level, sooner rather than later.
“To do that in any format or any level of cricket is something special, said Miller who is one of only two South African cricketers to score a century twice in T20 International cricket.
“He definitely has shown what he's capable of. He's a huge talent, and we all know that,” Miller told reporters.
“He is still very young, so putting performances like that back at home is what is needed, and I don't think it's going to be long until we see him playing for South Africa.
“But yeah, there's still a lot to do, and I'm very excited to see what he's capable of in the years to come.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday at 10:00 the Proteas will face Pakistan in Sydney at the ICC T20 World Cup.
