Proteas confident against spin heading into Pakistan clash─── MORGAN PIEK 08:29 Thu, 03 Nov 2022
The Proteas are in action again on Thursday at the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia where they will face Pakistan in a crunch match in Sydney.
India moved back to the top of Group 2 on Wednesday with a 5 run win over Bangladesh according to the Duckworth-Lewis method.
The Proteas need a victory to secure their spot in the semi-finals, while mathematically speaking, it is still possible for Pakistan to advance.
For Pakistan to advance, they will need to beat South Africa and Bangladesh on Sunday in Adelaide.
The Proteas will have to deal with the Pakistan spin options, which are always a weapon for a team from the subcontinent, but it is something that the Proteas have focused on extensively over the last couple of years, and the destructive left-handed batter David Miller feels they are prepared.
"We've done well playing against both India and Pakistan in their conditions the last couple of years," said Miller.
"As a squad we've focused a lot on playing spin during this period. The guys have definitely prepared well. So, it's something we're aware of, but the guys definitely have the skills to perform against the Pakistan spinners.
"We're definitely up for it, we're taking it one game at a time. Yes, we are in a great position on the table but there's still a lot to do."
Thursday’s game at the Sydney Cricket Ground gets underway at 10:00.
